Job Purpose
- To conceive ideas, develop and execute them as programmes (particularly Chinese) for The Arts House (AHL)
- To build strong and long-term partnerships with Chinese artists and arts organisations so as to better serve programming needs
- To assist and support as needed other AHL festivals, projects and events
Responsibilities
- Works as an integral member of the programming and producing team, with a focus on Chinese programming
- Conceptualises, develops, and executes arts programmes and projects in line with the programming strategy of The Arts House (especially Singapore Writers Festival)
- Works with Chinese arts and literary organisations in conceptualising, developing and execution of programmes
- Strives to reach targeted audiences via programmes and projects
- Manages all administrative and logistical areas including budgets and time-lines for programs, ticketing, front-of-house and customer management, and obtaining necessary approvals from internal and external parties
- Works closely with Marketing, Communications and the Centre Managers in the marketing of AHL programmes, as well as cultivating and maintaining artists/stakeholder relationship so as to build towards AHL’s brand identity
- Supports Partnership Development to canvas and secure sponsorships for arts events. This includes making recommendations for possible grants and funding sources
- Any other duties as assigned by the Management
Requirements
1. Education
- Advanced and relevant artistic knowledge: Degree in Arts and/or Social Sciences, or equivalent self-taught knowledge of the arts
- A subject concentration in Chinese language and/or Chinese literature is an advantage
2. Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an arts organisation or relevant arts context, demonstrating a strong aptitude/interest for programming
- Affinity with Chinese arts programming, and involvement (curating and/or programming) in past Chinese arts programmes is an advantage
3. Skills
- Fluent in English and proficiency in Chinese is a must
- Proficiency in using and applying MS Office at work
4. Characteristics
- Possesses good communication skills, both spoken and written
- Is a dynamic and strong team player with good organisational skills
- Able to work independently and effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines
5. Specialised Knowledge
- Enthusiasm and passion for literary arts
- Knowledge of the arts and culture scene in Singapore
